If you aren't satisfied with the iQue antenna, perhaps you want to build your own?

These instructions (http://www.arrl.org/tis/info/pdf/0210036.pdf) will tell you how to do it at the kitchen table.
This is typically "Jonasish", I would say. Jonas disagree.

The only problem is that the iQue requires that there's some current consumed by the antenna, or it will not know it's there.

Add a lamp, perhaps? :D

No it's not. I already saw it and don't care to build my own. I only want to have the best possible signal in in a convenient way.
The bleeder problem is a non-problem. Add a 3 mm dia coil with six turns and a resistor to draw about 5 mA at 3 V, connect the antenna via a low inductance (yes) capacitor of abt 22-47 pF if it presents a dc short, otherwhise not.
