Can someone point me in the right direction? I have an Ipaq 3765 with a Cisco 340 (802.11b)wireless card and a single dock sleave.

2 problems I am having are:
* Iomega tools will not recognize my click Drive.. but recognizes a CF 64Mb flash card with an adapter.

* I can browse the internet, log into MSN messenger ( so the wireless network card is working properly) but I was only able to click on "open path" and then type \\mymachine\music once. this was when i was hooked in through my USB port to the machine (it had the wireless card in as well) but later during the day I found that I cannot open any location on my Desktop anymore (the desktop shares are all valid, and can be accessed by 3 other machines in the house) I pinged the IPAQ, from the desktop (wireless card only, no usb) and returns back with replies. so in a nutshell:

IPAQ has an IP Address (tried both DHCP as well as Static)
can browse web, can use msn messenger

but cannot open any shares by using open path \\ even if I use an IP address (i.e \\10.0.0.188\music) :( :confused:

thanks,

John

Only a guess here -- first make sure security on the folders allow full access to authenticated users. Then when you try to open the folder, expect a logon dialog to appear -- log on using the account that the host computer uses if it is not part of a Windows domain.

Hello Steve,

Thanks for the reply.. That's exactly what happened the first time, and there was even a check box to remember my password. I can even do Terminal services to my WinXP box without a problem (even now).

When I connected to my WinXP machine the first and only time, it listed out the two directories which I had selected, (one was movies, one was music - MP3-) but neither directory allowed me to play any files , although they were recognized as mpg and mp3 files.

is there any utility for IPAQ for issueing PING commands or even something like a hosts/ lmhosts file?

What is driving me really crazy is I'm a certified systems engineer, in the windows/ linux world, but I can't seem to figure out what the heck is going on with this IPAQ. (even got a few bumps on my head, from banging it on the wall, for inspiration :confused: )
I have no idea what the "connections" page does.. I do know that I have the first 2 fields on work and the last on Internet, and the location is work as well (if I switch location to home, I cannot hit the web)

If you think of anything, does not matter how insane it might be, please let me know, for most probably my mind is slipping with age :D

I could be wrong, but i think you can only "browse" the network files from the file explorer with ppc 2002, to open them try using Netrunner;

As for ping utility for ipaq;

YES!!! it works. Both applications work fine. IPAQ has problems only with my WinXP machine, dure to Login restrictions/ Userid/Password issues. But I have shares on other machines that works fine.

Now, if Only I can get my Click! card to work in the slot. I'd be real happy:D

Once again thanks..

When accessing a network the IPAQ has the same capabilities as any other computer on the network I routinely edit files and even install extracted CAB files off of XP and W2k machines.

Ah, Windows XP -- check the advance tab for your network connections on the XP machine; make sure the Internet Connection Firewall box is not enabled.

BTW, I use Resco File Explorer -- it allows you to see all files and extensions as well as configure the explorer window much like the desktop windows explorer. Network connections persist (either as an active connection or a menu option until unmapped).

Wooo Hooo and Oh yeah Baby.... You guys Rock !!!!

The iomega driver (from the alternate source) works!!! I have about 10 of these disks (40Mb) each, which are tiny enough to throw in the pocket and go. I can just load up these disks from my desktop (Yes, I have a PCMCIA double dock On my Desktop) and take my tunes with me.

you guys are the best.. I am one happy camper..:D :D :D
