Here's the deal. I got a Sony Clie S320 from my brother last Christmas. He got it over eBay, so there's no receipt.

Now, 11 months later, the power stud has broken. It rattles when I shake the unit and doesn't move back up when pressed (ie. gravity holds it down). Of course, I can still activate the unit by pressing one of the four face buttons, but without the power stud I can only turn the unit off by setting the "pen" function to "Off and Lock" but that has obvious disadvantages.

I can't send it in for repairs because I have no receipt, and I'm not up for buying another one. What I'm here to find out is if this problem is user-serviceable in any way. I see screws on the casing that I could open with a jeweler screwdriver, but I don't want to risk opening something I can't reassemble only to find that repairs to the switch are impossible to jury-rig.

I await your advice. Thanks in advance.

Maybe no one has had to deal with this problem yet. On closer inspection, it appears that the power stud is part of of the face-plate half of the case. So, all I really need to do is replace the face-plate. Does anyone know where I might obtain one of those, preferably on the cheap?

Do you mean the power switch at the top?
If so... I had this break on my S360. Sending it ANYWHERE for repair was incredibly expensive... no way!
I opened it up and found it to be more of a "rocker" switch and in my case, one "spindle at the end was broken.

I bought a trashed 360 on ebay where the power switch was good... replaced it in 5 minutes and has been working flawlessly since.

Total cost including shipping: $10.50

Sweet.
