Probably a tired subject. But has everyone done the business and signed this thing ?

Windows CE is still not as stable as ER5 running on the earlier netBook. ER6 could be ported to that and indeed this newer machine. Later Symbian OS releases do not have support for real keyboards and are more Smartphone orientated.

Symbian have lost their way a little, perhaps they need a petitioned to not be so tunnel visioned towards Smartphones ? But since Psion sold its shares to Nokia, what do you reckon ?

Psion Teklogix are ignoring the better OS, for reasons that can only be guessed at. Why run away from EPOC and go for Windows like this ?

Say something and be counted while it still matters.

Best wishes,

Ray

This subject will not tire for a long time yet - you have just proved it - or until we have a netBook Pro Symbian in some shape or form available. And thanks for the renewed call.

This is actually not true. *All* versions of Symbian OS have keyboard support. It is just that in some phones, it is not being used, simply because there is no keyboard....

But add a Infrared or Bluetooth keyboard with a plug-in driver to something like a P800 and, whooops, there is keyboard support...

Same with touch screen. The Nokia Communicator actually has touch screen support in the OS, but no touch screen!!!

But since Psion sold its shares to Nokia, what do you reckon ?

I can only say that the Nokia 7700 is the most Psion-like post-Psion phone cum PDA to date. Add a Bluetooth keyboard and you have a Psion 5mx with colour screen, 3G, and wonderful media features.

And Symbian Word and Symbian Sheet are back in full swing. There is now even Symbian Presentation for PowerPoint viewing.

Well, I cannot blame them, they are simply market driven. If customers using MS based enterprise software keeps asking for MS, they cannot churn Symbian down their throats.

But if we can at least make it very probably to Psion Teklogix that there is sufficient demand for a netBook Pro Symbian to justify the additional development cost, they will be driven by this market as well. Remember that Psion is still a Symbian licencee! So the bridge is not totally in ashes yet.

But thanks for your words, we need more commentators like this. Lots more.

cheers
