I have just upgraded my mobile phone from a Motorola Timeport P7389 to a Sony Ericsson T68i. With the Motorola I could email and access the Web via infrared with no trouble. However, so far, no joy with the T68i. Does anybody have any experience of this and, if so, what are the correct settings.

I assume you have the 68i drivers installed on the Palm.
Here is a thread to review.

Thanks for your prompt response.
I do indeed have the latest drivers loaded.
When I do a test everything checks out; the Palm clearly recognizes that it's communicating with a T68i.
However, when I try to connect using an application (Xiino or MultiMail) the phone responds briefly twice by displaying a screen showing that it's dialling my ISP for about 4-5 seconds after which it drops back to the desktop and my Palm displays the following message:
Error: no carrier
(Ox1102)
I've tried searching the Palm web site for this error message but with no success.
Have I missed something really simple here? It's very frustrating, my Motorola Timeport worked first time and never gave me a problem.
All suggestions gratefully received.

Nick,
I had a similar proble, and I worked my buns off trying to solve it only to discover that my grafitti had put in a 'q' rather than a 'g' in my ISP ID or Password. Can't remember which now. I know you have looked but just take one last squint at the ISP ID and Password.

Many thanks for all your assistance DrMud.
Sadly I think I've reached the conclusion that I just have a faulty handset. It operates just fine as a cell phone but I've been totally unable to set up WAP, SMS or Email despite contacting Sony Ericsson and Palm. Everything appears to be configured just right but the phone just won't have anything to do with the Internet.
Back to the store to kick ass!

As a foot note to this thread I am adding this in case anybody encounters a similar problem.
I now have a Sony Ericsson T68i which communicates very nicely with my Palm M500. The solution? It turns out that when I purchased the phone, the retailer activated the sim card for voice calls but not for data calls. Once the sim card was fully activated everything worked perfectly.
The moral is, if you're buying a new phone, assume nothing and make sure the person selling you the phone knows what they're talking about!
