Has anyone else had a problem trying to simulate a route, not that it's a big deal but just being curious. When I try to simulate it just keeps saying "off route recalulating" over and over and the icon doesn't move.

I ran a couple of simulations without errors.

Perhaps reloading of the detailed maps would help you overcome the problem you're having.

I reloaded the world basemap and my local maps for the UK and Italy. I tried a route from home to Pisa. I thought it would be fun to leave it running overnight and see how far it got in the morning. After I tapped Yes to do the simulation I had to do 5 resets. Everytime I tapped Yes, it would freeze within seconds of the first voice prompt. Eventually it did come right and I left it running. This morning, it had found it's way across the Channel Tunnel where CS5 would always 'waste' time by routing up the coast and onto a ferry. There was no captain's log to read back. My Q had crossed into France and had run aground with all loss of life somewhere in Northern France.

I'm not convinced that basemaps and detailed maps make good routing friends. I hope it behaves better in the real world when I get to Tuscany.

Then again, could it be my SD card? mmmmmmm!

I had to do about the same number of resets before the system settled down. As I mentioned in another thread, I was finding the problem when recalculating a route following a change in preferences.

Wiggers, my problem was using the same preferences I'd always had. I checked them beforehand. It seems more stable now.

At least CS6 has resolved the problem of routing to France via ferry. I don't know if that is because CS6 now 'knows' the Channel tunnel is a faster route line, or whether it chose it because it was geographically closer?

Hmm. A route to a friend in Brussels is still being shown via ferry and ignoring the tunnel. I found that it does select the tunnel when only Basemap is available for that area.

I definitely have the detailed maps loaded for that tile of the south-east where the Tunnel is. I followed the calculated route from home, and it routed via Ashford, which it has never done before, and from there a straight through the tunnel to the other side. I wonder what's going on here? For me it's fine, for you it's not. Both on R3, both on CS6,

I've just tried setting my location to your location and it still goes via the ferry. Then I tried Paris instead of Brussels and got the same thing. Why does my iQue prefer the ferry???

If I can intervene here, how do you load base maps and detailed maps seperately? I have only had the option to load tiles at a time. I am planning a trip to the south of france this year and I have loaded the tiles around the route which still takes up some space on the memory, I am wondering, after having read this thread, if I can just load the base maps for the route and keep detailed for destination and UK only. Any ideas?

It seems to work here. I've just uploaded a tile for central France where I went on a business trip last year and it calculated a route quite happily to a waypoint in the tile. What you loose is detailed information and PoI along the way and there's a bit of a step where it meets the tile. There was a thread about this a while ago, I seem to recall, and someone found they had to add a via near the tile edge.

Again I tried and it gave me this Fatal Alert message

"QueLib.c, Line:945, Assert failed at \udb_arte.c:1164 in UpdateNVM"
Any ideas what this means?

I reset it and works fine now.
