I bought the iQue 3600 for my upcoming trip to Italy this summer with the idea to use it primarily as a walking around GPS in the cities.

I have been following the treads to increase battery life with extra batteries and so on. (Found some great suggestion there)

When walking, you would normally not keep the unit in your hand, but keep it in your pocket and check occasionally. I assume the reception is lousy at best and on top of it, you’re in a city.
How do you do it? I was thinking of using my external antenna and sticking it with a Velcro strip to my photo vest on the shoulder. Would this work or does anybody have any other suggestion?

I would love to keep track of my walking trips.

Besides having the external antenna with a velcro on diferent parts of my clothes also have a velcro on the case, so I have Que inside the case and on my belt, it has the appearance of a movil phone.

Em_CT There are actually hats that you can put a GPS antenna into, with the cable running down to the pda in your pocket (along with the battery pack!). I actually do quite a bit of hiking with my iQue, but I hold it in my hand, with the pack in my pocket. No external antenna yet :)

I suppose you could get some sort of velcro band to hold the iQue to your arm or something (might look a bit strange). Or hook it somehow onto a backpack. The antenna in the hat sounds pretty good to me, though!

Why not start a new fashion trend.

Update the old beanie with the propeller on top. Just replace the propeller with a tracking antenna.:)

... my Gleason antenna from http://www.gpsgeek.com/ for about $20.00 plus shipping. Good deal, works great.

I stand corrected!

I am sure Gilsson does not mind on how I spell their name as long as I buy the product.

em_CT It's just kind of a wry running joke around here. Anyone searching on the word 'Gilsson' will miss several useful threads due to misspellings ;)

Then again if they misspell Gilsson just right, they will find an abundance of links.;)
