Nokia unveiled a new Communicator called 9500 in Cannes.

Check the information at :-

and also

A bit disappointing for me because IMHO, a smartphone MUST have a touch-screen + proper keyboard. Maybe this is not the device that I've been waiting to replace my ol' netBook... :( Have to wait for the "Real" communicator which has Symbian OS + Series 90 :)

The Register comments:

"a price tag of €800 ($1000) should keep it out of reach of the consumer market"

Wheras I do agree with AlBaker that a Series 90 Communicator had been preferable, not the least since Series 90 draws more on ER5+Eikon while Series 80 draws more on GEOS, the features of this communicator are impressive:

- TriBand
- EDGE (!!!)
- 80 Mbyte memory
- Camera
- WiFi
- Symbian Word, Symbian Sheet and Symbian Presentation with MS Office compatibility
- Bluetooth
- USB

and

- Symbian OS v7.0S

cheers
