I am seriously contemplating buying a Treo 600 (currently use a Palm T3 and a Motorola v60 phone) - several questions:
(1) I have heard conflicitng reports on whether one can use thrid-part graffitti pograms (eg. Graffitti Anywhere, Newpen or Jot) - what's the word?
(2) I have heard a rumor that Palm will be releasing a newer Treo version (630 or 660?) soon, with a better screen and other fixes - anyone hear anything about this?
(3) GSM vs. CDMA - any thoughts? I am still wary of switching to GSM, until the coverage is better (I am rarely out of the U.S.)
(4) Is it worth waiting for the Samsung SGH i505?
Much thanks,
amell

I can confirm G.Anywhere does work.. i used it on my boss' treo. Key to that is using the activate key on the on/off button on the treo.. and it works fine he is utterly happy and greatful that he can grafitti again.

Ive read some horror stories about Treos, but I've been using on for about 6 weeks now and LOVE it! Its a solid unit, and much better than carrying around a phone and a palm!
I dont even use a case, but have stickon palm screen protector - and even if I do break the screen (the only thing thats gonna go)/loose it/get it stolen, I've got it insured-UK£5 a month for 24 hour replacement...I just get the new one and sync it up with my computer, and EVERYTHING will be back! This phone is pretty amazing, and I love my gadgets - but I gotta say its very cool!
The only major problems with Treo 600 are:
-Fairly low battery life-I use it alot in the day (business apps, text messeges, phone calls, couple of games but very little MP3 use) and I get about 2 and a bit days. I swith off the gsm wireless mode when I go to bed (about 6-7 hours) - you could get more out of it by using it less...but thats with my normal usage.
-Camera is pretty much a waste of time, it's 640x480 so higher res than my Nokia 7250, but the picture quality can only be described as terrible. In low and most artificial lights it has major trouble compensating the exposure, and messes up. Im hopefull this will get fixed in the future by Handspring with software/firmware updates though.
-Not 3G network compliant
-No built in bluetooth and incompatability reported with third party bluetooth devices
-Built-in non-removable battery (although this makes the unit feel very solid, and its not gonna get wobbly bits in a few months!)
Yup, some big issues there, but at the end of the day the Treo is a pretty sleek, comact and solid package, I heatily recommend it!
Graphiti input can be put back on - Yup, thats double confirmed! I tried NewPen and had alot of trouble, but Ive been using Graphiti Anywhere for about a month now with no problems. I've even restored the original Graphiti 1 (it comes with bodged v2). Personally - Ive got it setup on datebook hardkey (hold down), because im using the on/off front hardkey to activate Crystal Popup Suite - check it out its a brilliant OS5 pop up app - combined with ZLauncher its tops!
Treo 60x - Well, theres always something new on the horizon, isnt there! Id estimate 3-6 months before an upgraded version. Wait and get the ultimate, or have a lovely phone now - the choice is yours! I'd buy in now - try and get it as cheep as possible with a network contract and maybe sell it when the new one comes out - these babies will hold their value compared to other phones for quite a while! If the new one has 320x320 res screen I'm DEFO buying one, and I dont care how much it costs, I'll sell some family on eBay or something!!!!
