The trip to my work is 95% freeway. From the freeway I see church towers, little villages, lakes, ponds. But I never got any further than just seeing them from the distance.
Now, with the iQue and if time allows, I sometimes take a detour using minor roads through the countryside without the need to stop every 500 m for a glance in my (now abandoned!) paper road atlas. The iQue lets me drive routes I would never take without it, showing me river views, castles, rustic farms etc. A good start for your day!

Enjoy the countryside with your iQue and you will see how beautiful and "tranquilizing" it is!

I am facinated to learn the names of all the places you can see from the motorway as you drive along.

perhaps this is why the Europe maps are more expensive than the US maps, because Europe has river views, castles and rustic farms.:D

If I'm not in a hurry, I like to cruise through the rural areas too. Though many wouldn't consider driving through endless prairie with a farm every couple of kilometers or so terribly scenic, I love it. As long as I'm going in the more or less correct direction and know where I am and have enough fuel to get to where I gotta be, I'm content. The wife, on the other hand, is considerably less tolerant of dust and gravel roads and the extra time. Having had a mapping GPS unit for about 5 years now, she's had to get used to my driving percularities.

Same here, I've been deliberately going off track near home (Only lived here a year) and discovering all manner of country goodness..

My "normal" trip home involves going past my town on the motorway, then cutting back on an "a" road, with the Que I've been discovering many ways to cu the corner off that route, none have saved me time though, despite being 10 miles or so less they are twisty roads and my boat of a car can't go that fast on them. Interesting roads though :)
