Have used the canadian Metro guide and the Select City USA
The first one has less correct maps but the second one
only covers canadian cities
So I will have to use both
Does any one have any info on how overlapping maps will work
Which one will be dominant (over the other)

Thanks

Unfortunately the US maps seem to take precedence over the Canadian Metro Guide V4. I live in Victoria and I wanted to fill in the void in Juan de Fuca Strait so I loaded both sets of maps; I found the far less detailed US maps had taken over the area of overlap and much data and detail was missing. I had to get rid of the US overlap and reload to keep the Canadian version on top.

have you tried to disable/enable individual detailed maps in que-preferences-maps-detailed maps?
for the time being i use only metroguide maps, and haven't noticed less data compared to canadian coverage of NA city select.

For the calgary area, NA city select has one 2.5 MB map, while MG canada 4 has 7 maps worth about 10MB for the same area, so there's got to be way more detail there.
I remember that outside of cities, the basemap had more detail than NA CS (that's for canada, of course)...

Also regarding overlapping maps: i might be wrong, but i remember that detailed maps installed in the internal memory have precedence over the ones installed on the SD card, so try to split your maps between internal and SD.

i just tried to overlap some maps, and the only conclusion i got is that, the higher an enabled detailed map in the [preferences-maps-detailed maps] list, the higher its priority.
If this conclusion is correct then you can do the following: if you want a map to be behind another, just delete it from memory, then install it again. (or install them in the order you want them to overlap, with the first installed staying atop of the last installed)

The way I dealt with that issue was to get two SD cards ... a 256MB one is for Canadian maps, and a 512 Mb one for the US ... and there are no hiccups as I pop one out and pop in another.
Quite frankly, the only place I really notice a difference between the two is for smaller communities where the street level data is more detailed and there are POIs. And waypoints are common too ....

I tried something else: selecting maps in mapsource in a certain order, then saving to iQue.
IT DOES NOT WORK.
The map order is scrambled when the detailed maps arrive on the iQue.
And you cannot delete individual maps (o i don't know how to do it)

Another thing: you can enable/disable product families in the preferences screen (provided you selected maps-detailed maps cathegory); you can enable all, disable all, enable/disable metroguide, enable/disable NA city select.

The problem I have with the Canadian metroguide
is the accuracy of the maps
Twice in the same day it routed me to a dead end
Train tracks or a cliff where the road in actuality is cut off
but on the map it seems to connect one block further with
another road
Also it asked me to exit off the freeway at a non existent exit
On the other hand the us city select drops completely out
about 20 miles north of Montreal
So I have to use both
So I loaded the canadian first and before saving also loaded the city select
for all metropolitan areas I use
The city select seems to be on top
But when needed with preference maps on the IQUE
I can deselect the blank american map that covers the areas I want to
It would be so nice to have a unified and accurate map for all of North america
But this work around seems to be ok for now

Thanks for the responses
