MS word conversion

when I receive email with MSWord attachments they look like they will be able to be read OK and have a nice Icon with a "W" - I am using a netbood with the latest OS - but when I try to open the file I get the messsage box:

"Program Closed"
reason code USER
reason number 10

Any help appreciated

try experimenting with sending yourself attachments from different version of Word - the convertor won't have been modified since Word 2000 (possibly not since 97!) so it probably will fall over on very recent versions of Word.

Good suggestion. I tried that but does not work on any of them. This could be as I use a Mac and have to use "file save as" option and it converts it into various MSword formats, butI tried them all and none worked. Could it have anything to do with not following the instructions about Commsdb.dat file and using the old one from previous OS (as it works OK using "the dialer" with my gold card and mobile)

not sure if the old Commsdb.dat is an issue, but since using it is outside the guidance from Psion I would certainly consider writning down all the settings, deleting the file and re-entering them.

Regarding the crash, I'd try a soft (and if necessary a hard) reset and see if this fixes it.

Thanks Yan. I have tried a soft reset with no joy. I will get round to a hard resset and sorting out the comsdb.dat file soon, I post if it fixes it
