Hi,
I recently found a hack to rotate (landscape) the screen in Toshiba e310 and I'm planning to include the hack on my next version of Tweaks2k2.

I need somebody who knows about how to work with PPC registry to help me with this.

Note: Beta tester gets Tweaks2k2 for free as long as he/she stay working as beta tester.

If any one want to help, please send me an email to e310@pc-counselor.8m.com

TIA

Well, e740 can be used portrait but not using the same method than in e310 where it can be done by changing the registry.

Will there be a tweak also for e570 and Maestro users?

I don't have any news about if this trick can be done in e570 and Maestro... but Tweaks2k2 check the registry and if it can be done it enable the trick by it self. If this trick does not work in these devices you won't see it even listed in Tweaks2k2 menu.

I know for fact that this trick does not work in e740 and e550g, in the first because the video chip is from ATI, the second becuase the video Chip is from Intel.

If any user want to check manually if this trick will work in his/her device just go to:

There you will find the information needed to perform this trick.

You will have to open the registry and check for the existence of the key I posted in my previous message.

Under display you will see the name of the chip listed.

Nope, my program wont tell you what is the graphic chip used in your pda. It will check if the one used in Toshiba e310 is located, if that the case, you will be able to use the rotate option otherwise you wont see this option listed.

That was fun. I followed those instructions and sure enough it rotated the screen. What it didnt do is change the way the stylus works with the screen. Meaning that the start button appears to be in another corner now(top right) but you still need to click the original spot(top left) to activate it. Works like that for everything.

Maybe you need to run the stylus configure tool after you rotate the screen, I had yet to try it.

I have tried to make this option easier but I got some problems while replacing the alignment in the registry. I will keep working on this option... So sorry guys if this is not the most confortable way to rotate the screen.

I agree, it's fun. But if you use the buttoms you can align the screen without problems.

Well I think I got this problem under control. :D

All I need now is just a few more tests.

Ok thank you. I looked at what you said but what thing tells me what graphic card I have on my Maestro. What are some good hacks that you would recomend for a Maestro/e570 in all categories.

Well, there are many hacks (just in Tweaks2k2 I have included 42!) but I always recommend to disable the animation in the Start Menu, increase the font cache (Speed up the display in Tweaks2k2), change the ID of PIE to IE 5.5 or 6.0, and move Avantgo and PIE Temp files to your storage cards.

Ok thank you. I was jw is there any battery tweaks for my Maestro that will make the battery percentage go down by 1% or 5% instead of the standard 10% it goes down by? Thank you.

No such hack does not exist. Tweaks2k2 has a hack that will add to your PPC the capability of control the Battery alarm but nobody has found yet any way to change the %.
