I was happily using my 7 today when I looked down and noticed the delete key had popped out somehow. Although it was rather educational to see the underside of the keyboard, I really didn't want to know that badly. I was able to kind of settle the key back into place so that it works, but it still seems loose and would probably fall out if I turned the 7 upside down. Anyone have a similar experience or have any ideas as to the best way to fix this situation?

PS: Aside from this problem, the build quality of my 7 has been perfect over the last year and a half. I guess I am going to have to stop making mistakes from now on. :)

I've had this problem, and with a little perseverance managed to get the key back in place - it's VERY fiddly though!

I actually removed an adjacent key to examine how the pieces fit together - couldn't begin to describe it though! I seem to recall that different rows had a slightly different mechanism, too, so I would remove a key from the same row if you decide to do this.

It's this clever little "deckchair" mechanism that makes the 7 keyboard so great to use. You should be able to get it to click back properly into place with a little patience.

I seem to think I've seen some photos of this somewhere on the Net - perhaps on Rueyloon's site? No time to search at the moment, unfortunately.

there's a detailed description in my FAQ (no photos though) of how to remove the keys. It may help somewhat - URL below.

Thanks for your help. I spent some time trying to figure out how the key was supposed to reconnect. The whole 'deckchair' mechanism is, er, pretty interesting. There are 5 points of contact to reconnect the key: 3 of which connect to the top of the 'deckchair' and two connect under prongs toward the back of the key via a wire. I connected the latter two first and then the former. Eventually the key eventually snapped back into place. Maybe it will even stay that way!
