Hello all,
I am new to this forum. so for completeness.
I have a iPaq 3970 (Bluetooth), a Nokia 6310i (BT) and a HP Laptop with a Xircom Credit card (BT) adapter.
My Cradle is connected to my Workstation (XP) and the syc process is ok however. I have 2 questions.
1) How do I backup my iPAQ to the PC via the USB?
2) Can any body give me a clue on the best way to sync with Bluetooth to the laptop. The Xircom card online help is less than helpful.
My aim is to sync both PC's and the PDA.

Hi,
I have a similar set-up as you have. (Still waiting for my Bluetooth card for my laptop). I've managed to get the Nokia and the iPAQ connected via Bluetooth. I can now browse the internet and connect to my works network via dial up. To do that follow these steps:
- Switch on Bluetooth on the Nokia (Menu/Bluetooth/On
- The activate Bluetooth on the iPAQ (Click icon bottom right corner of the Today screen and select RADIO ON)
- Go to Bluetooth Manager on the iPAQ
- Click yes when asked to search
- Select the phone that should appear
- Click Save
- Select the device
- Click on Actions
- Select Bond with this device
- This is the tricky bit, you might wanna read the manual, you need to enetr a 4 digit code, press ok and within 2 secs selct Accept and the 4 digit code on the Nokia (first attempts you will probably fail because you're too slow)
- Ignore the error message about device not available
- Click on Actions
- Select Set as Dialiup Modem
There are settings you should be checking out about security etc. Too much explaining for now (it's all in the manuals)
- You'll now need to set up a dial up connection
Good luck!

Backup iPQA to PC
On your desktop, go to Tools, Backup and select the desired option. This will backup all your files to your PC. You have a similar option with Ipaq File store and you can backup your data to a particular directory on an SD card.
Hope this helps

There is always a BUT.
I have sync with my PC via USB but not my laptop via BT.
I still do not know how to backup up the iPAQ to my PC.. this is frustrating - the only info I seem to be able to find is that MS Async is used - is this the only backup?
Async on the LapTop finds all of the BT Com ports but when it scans it does not find the iPAQ even though the iPAQ is bonded and the (x)Active Sync Partner is checked. Any more ideas welcome.
