I recently purchased a z50, and would like to know which PC Card Wifi adapter I should get. Can anyone currently up and running with wifi on the z50 post the card name/model that they are using.

In case this matters, I'm going to try an ad hoc wifi connection first, so if the card you are using supports that, I'd like to hear about it. But please post if you're using any wifi card successfully.

Do NOT get the Linksys WPC11 ver. 3 card. Apparently, earlier versions of this card worked, but even with current CE2.11 drivers from Linksys website, this card will not work with z50.

I've been assured that the card described in the link below will work fine with z50(I haven't yet tried it myself). Use the Compaq WL100NDS.dll drivers with it.

Let us know how it works out!

Now I really *am* nervous about getting a card, since I was on the verge of getting the Linksys v.3 after trying to glean the net for some hint of which card would work with the z50.

Anyone out there who has a card working right now? What model card are you using? :)

The most promising possibility I've found so far is the D-Link DWL-650

Many websites say that they have it working with the z50 RUNNING BSD. None that I've seen say that it works with CE 2.11 on the z50. Also, the vendor doesn't have drivers for any CE versions, let along CE 2.11.

However, according to:

http://www.cewindows.net/peripherals/pccardwirelesslan.htm

it is supposed to work under CE 2.11 using the Compaq drivers, found here:

http://www.compaq.com/support/files/networking/wlan/WL100CE.html

According to the release notes, at least these drivers say that they support CE 2.11 under MIPS, which the z50 is.

Also, its a cheap card:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?sku=D700-1024 has it on sale for $29.99 after rebate.

Is anyone out there running under this configuration and can verify that it works?

I use the Symbol wireless worker (CF) on the Z50 - works great, but due to it's short antenna it's just not a great WLAN-card.

I forgot to post that I was succesful in finding a PCMCIA card and drivers that worked. Thanks for posting the CF option --its good to know that there is hardware and drivers for either slot!

What worked for me:

The Buffalo Flat Wireless PCMCIA Card (WLI-PCM-L11GP)

The Orinoco drivers:

I have a DWL-650+ wireless card and an IBM Z50 Workpad, but I have had no sucess with getting it to work. I read that the Compaq WL100 drivers should work, but after installing those drivers, I only met with dissapointment.

Mainly, I want to use my wireless card, but I require a driver that will work. Anyone have a link to a known driver, or at least a few potentials?

My system has Windows CE 2.0 installed. The compaq driver is designed for CE 2.11 Is there a way to patch my Z50 to a higher version of CE? EG: CE 2.11, 3, etc..

I believe DWL-650+ is a 32 bits cardbus pcmcia card. I don' think Windows CE can use cardbus, only 16 bits ones.

Well, in that case do you know of any possible candidates that might work with a Z50 running Windows CE 2.0?
