Firstly may I say how invigorated and enthused I am as a longterm Psion user, by the incredibly helpfull, selfless indepth help given by many members of this (and related) forums. This has if anything become BETTER and more PERSONAL since Psion have left ths consumer marketplace & more recently their commercial division have stopped production of the excellent netBook (EPOC).
It would seem that the interest in the Netbook Pro (Widows CE) has all but dried up apart from possibly gullible or ill-informed corporate purchasers. Shame that T/logix have even managed to **** this one up by some bad hardware changes from the original netBook (not to mention the unstable CE OS and lack of pre-installed software). Although holding out for a Symbian Pro (OS 7 or even 8) - I would have thought T/logix would have been more thoughtful in the software & hardware integration, EVEN IF THEY ARE GUNNING FOR CORPORATE USERS 1ST & FOREMOST !
Anyway must get to the main reason for my posting. Following an excellent series "WiFi on a Netbook" by Martin Guthrie on foxpop.co.uk, I firstly upgraded to 64MB RAM & ordered a USB WiFi (to PC) & PCMIA card (into netBook) combo. This is by Buffalo and uses the low power drain Lucent/Hermes Orinoco chipset.
I have followed all the clear instructions on foxpop but am struggling with setting up the WiFi side of things on XP. The USB device is working but I need to get the TC/IP settings set up on a peer to peer basis to create a recognised available network to appear. I think I am trying to run before I can walk here ... can anyone (NetbookBabe? or others that I know have the same / similar combo) come to my rescue here ? I'll be eternally grateful to you :D ;) !!
