I've owned my Handera 330 for about 2 years--a very reliable unit. For the past 1.5 years, I have had the rechargeable battery pack installed. It appears to hold its charge for a predictable period of time.
Today, when I went to turn it on (last charged 3 days ago), there was no response--a blank screen. Thinking that perhaps the battery pack had become discharged, I plugged in the charger. The charging light on the Handera won't go on. I replaced the rechargeable battery pack with regular batteries--it still doesn;t work.
Suggestions? Is this a common problem?

Sounds like it's a dead puppy. :(
But some suggestions. Leave battery out for several hours & remove any SD/CF cards. Then install battries and see what happens (without SD/CF cards). Remember to press reset button esp if you see nothing.
If you've got one, check batteries with volt meter to see if they're dead.
Power button might have gotten stuck. See if it feels different, and if so try to get it back to normal feel.
Have you dropped it lately? Might have taken a little while for the broken parts to dislodge and kill device. No known cure.
It is (was?) $100 to have Handera repair. This is one option, but I personally would use the money on a new device first.
Do you have kids? They might have dropped it or spilled something on it (or wife?).
Last resort, take apart and clean out dirt. Reassemble and try. Worst case is you'll have a pile of parts. WARNING: do on anti-static surface (sheet of aluminum foil works in pinch), and under bright lights so you'll not loose any little parts (power button, IR lens, etc.).My notes on disassembly & cleaning are in post at LXP:
