Hi,
is there an easy way (if not, maybe a little more complicated one...) to send 'instant messages' to mobile phones via bluetooth, and receive them back? I haven't found any software for that.
And, BTW, I guess there's no way to let the T3 wait in standby mode for incoming bluetooth messages, right? This would be a real *cooool* feature :-D

When used in conjunction with a paired BT phone (I have the S-E T610) can send SMS to other phones very easily.
To receive SMS, I allow my T610 to act like the message server and receive the SMS, then I just open up the SMS app. on the T|3 and "Send & Receive."
(Although, sometimes I just read the message right there on my phone.)
I'm not certain of an app. that will let the T|3 directly receive an SMS without opening up the SMS app. and "Sending and Receiving".
Try VersionTracker (http://www.versiontracker.com/palmos/), PalmGear (http://www.palmgear.com/), and/or Handango (http://www.handango.com/home.jsp?siteId=1). There might be a program out there that is ready for you.
Either that, or you might be ahead of the curve. :p

I actually didn't mean SMS messages, they're very expensive here... I'd rather send simple messages directly to available mobile phones within range. No pairing, no cell network, no costs. Something like BlueChat, only for T3 to phones. :)

The short answer to that would be no.
Most phones are not kept in pairing mode for very long since it uses up a lot of battery power. And phones won't let you communicate with them without prior pairing, otherwise it would be pretty easy to hijack your neighbours cell phone for internet or SMS-ing.

It's too bad that SMS is expensive there. I find it to be one of the most useful tools in my T2. In addition to the sending and recieving, it provides a record of the messages that can be referred to later. If you just had messages on the phone screen I doubt you would have a record of the message for future reference.

Thank God (or Jehovah or Budda or Allah, you getthe point) for that. Wouldn't that be scarry to reach into your pocket for the phone and see that someone within 30 feet of you is stealing your bandwidth.
It'd feel almost like they actually had their hand in my pocket, to me.
But, I'm sure it's coming.
<sigh> This world we live in.

OK, why is there no way to just send instant messages to a phone and don't immediately let it set up connections? And if I'm going to pair my T3 with my friends' phones, I can send SMS via their phones without their acknowledgement, right? I meant some way in between... And if that's too scary, I'd just like to be able to block certain MAC addresses...
OK, guess the technology isn't just as brilliant as I dreamed of it. :(

Yes, and that's where personal responsibility and accountability come in. They should be well-enough versed with the technology and it's pros-and-cons beforethey agree to allow you to pair with their phones.
It's not all the technology's fault.
