well im looking for a program to like keep track of certain things like

customers name(can like be pulled from contacts), the month, the amount of hours i charged the customer. basically its to keep track of my hours from work so i dont get gibbed by my boss.

well my job is a refrigeration mechanic. i need something that when i charge a customer i can record the hours i made at the customer. so at the end of the work week i know how many hours i have collected and from whom.

There are (from memory) around 8-10 "time-punch" or "time-clock/time management" apps, all freeware, ranging in app size from 30k-150k. Some of them seem decent as I tried a couple, but I can't remember which. Besides, it's been around 4 months and many have been updated as of the last 3-4 weeks. Many updated March 2-5th, in fact - so you'd be getting "fresher version."

YEP. JUST CHECKED MYSELF - There are around 8 time managers and 3 project managers. One or two of them would probably work for you -- you'd have to decide for yourself.
