In my first post a few weeks ago (here) (http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36651) I said my early-build iQue had up and died when I tried installing R3.

Well, I got an RMA and sent it back; Garmin turned it around in a week. They turned it around so fast because they just sent me a new one (S/N 9141xxxx replacing 9020xxxx).

Of course, not all is complete ecstacy: the new one has v. 5.2.1r2 on it. Right now, I don't feel quite adventuresome enough to do the R3 upgrade.

But they also sent me a new unlock code for the software I have, which appeared to work fine.

Now what I have to do is figure out the USB conflict I seem to have developed since my last hotsync with the old iQue. This one likes to be plugged into the computer directly, instead of into a hub into a dock. Go figure. [I did get a new USB mouse into the hub in the meantime, so maybe that's it.]

Thanks for the morale support. HPH

Glad the RMA went smoothly.

Hey, take a look at your tracklog and see if your replacement iQue has been anywhere else. There is speculation the 9141xxxx units that Garmin is sending out may not indeed be new but early production units with problems that have been updated with the latest fixes. See this thread (http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37162) for more details.

I find it curious that they didn't update it to R3 for you. It's pretty typical of them to apply all the latest updates before they send it back. My 9141 that I got back was updated to R3 and my RMA before that had the R2 update applied.

In any case, enjoy your new iQue.

As far as I remember, the installation instructions for the iQue states, that it must not be connected via a USB hub, but directly to the computer.

I'm still successfully using a (powered) USB hub to connect my iQue. I have a USB switch as well to switch the iQue, Printer and ADSL modem between work laptop (W2K) and home desktop (XP-Home). Even works well synching to Outlook on laptop and Palm Desktop on home PC.

I too have my iQue plugged into a hub. The static shock that resulted from attatching my iQue to the cradle was so bad with it plugged directly into the computer, it was causing my computer to reboot.
