Question: Is the friction on inserting and pulling out the Kyocera plug as great as it is with the original Garmin charger plug? What voltage does the Kyocera charger give? You don't need to buy a cell phone charger to get the plug. You can buy the plug with a 5 feet cable at 1.26 USD on the web. But don't use it without taking the measures described by me. eric777 03-10-2004, 06:43 PM Quote: "You don't need to buy a cell phone charger to get the plug. Would you give us the source and describe the measures? Could be very helpful! jonasolof 03-11-2004, 06:39 AM For more on the plug and where to buy cable+plug see this post and thread (http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=150610&highlight=lubricant#post150610) See the top post for the links to docs of the cable+plug and where to buy robjae 03-11-2004, 06:44 AM I was not suggesting people buy the charger, just that if they have both, they are interchangeable. The Kyocera 7135 is a Palm OS device. jonasolof 03-11-2004, 09:47 AM One Question on the Kyocera. which, being a CDMA phone, probably won't appear in Europe: How is the power jack situated. Same way as on the iQue wehere the jack is part of a block that includes the universal connector and sits at the end of the printed circuit board? On the iQue, the board can actually be seen above the grey connector block. It would be interesting to know if the Kyocera has the same problems has the same problem as the iQues regarding the power pin. BTW, I just got a Garmin serial cable which incudes a power jack for the iQue. Also here, the pin makes too much resistance on insertion of tha cable plug. Needs to be fixed according to what I mentioned earlier. According to Garmin support, their serial cable is the same as a standard Palm serial cable, except that it provides the possibility to supply power under operation. robjae 03-11-2004, 10:17 AM Yes, is is part of the block just to the side of the connector, which is not a universal connector unfortunately. PFflyer 03-12-2004, 06:06 PM I bought Kyocera cig lighter charger. It works fine. Paid $3.95 at Best Buy as it was marked 'clearance'. Output is 5 vdc same as iQue. I think the right angle plug puts less stress on the iQue jack then the iQue stock straight out plug. PDA Street
