Yesterday I installed the win ce driver for Linksys WPC11 (v 2.5). The card works (both green lights are on) and it appears to be able to connect to the network, but I cannot connect to the internet.

It doesn't get assigned an ip address automatically by dhcp. I use that same card in my notebook computer without any problems. Could this the problem?

When I put the card in my notebook, it is automatically assigned an ip address and shows up in the dhcp clients table.

When I take the card out and put in my mobilepro, it is not automatically assigned an ip address and I don't think it is recognized as being on the network.

I tried using the ip address that was assigned when the notebook was using the card as the mac address for the card still appears on the dhcp clients table.

*ssid is set properly

In the Instant Wireless Network PC Card Settings, I have the following settings.

Specify an IP address
IP Address: 192.168.1.103
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

For the default gateway, I entered in the ip address of my router. Is this correct? Or should I enter in the ip address of my internet connection?

Any help will be appreciated.

Regards,
Zarry

I also have a MobilePro 780 and am having the same problem accessing the internet.

I have tried the Linksys V2.5 with HPC Factor recommended driver and still does not work.

I get a steady Red link light, continuously flashing green light. I also downloaded vxUtil and am able to ping my ISP server, yet Internet Explorer doe not work.

Am also getting "DHCP unable to obtain IP address".

Using a Linksys WAP (BEFW1S4V2). It is set for DHCP and my laptop wireless is working fine. I swapped out the WAP with an SMC WAP I borrowed and the problem remains the same.

I also tried installing a a PRISM chipset IntelPro 2011B Wi-Fi PC card and still get the same indications.

Is my MobilePro missing dll's or something?

I like the MP 780 but am frustrated and considering going with a VAIO Picturebook.

Has anyone cracked this problem?

Please Help

JC

I got a cheap NIB 3Com AirConnect card on eBay and I am using it to surf and sync. If you use DCHP to automatically assign IP addresses, you may have had trouble getting a 780 to sync over ethernet (Network) (using the most recent ver. of ActiveSync). I found a trick that allowed the sync to work. On the PC, look up the IP address of the PC. On the MobilePro 780, in the properties tab of the network adapter being used, set the primary WINS server addess to the address of the PC. Click all the OK's, remove and reinsert the adapter. Connect from MobilePro using ActiveSync. I haven't noticed any problems with internet connections after making this change. Hope this helps.

One thing I do different in my setup: My wireless access point is not set up as a dhcp server. I use it as an access point with a static IP address in the same range as my wired router (wired router acts as a dhcp server). This allows me to turn off wireless access entirely when I don't need it (the best security!) without messing up the rest of my wired network. With this setup, dhcp works fine and WIN CE gets the IP address from the wired router. Hope this helps.
