Quick question: Does the charging light go out when the ique is fully charged? (So far I have been too impatient to wait and see).
With my old Sony 770c it would stay on all the time, and with the wifes new Sony SJ it charge light will go out when fully charged.

S. The light is on the whole time it's getting power from the cradle, or any other charger.

Very much so.
I'll leave in in the cradle all afternoon and see if the bolt finally goes..

My battery icon loses the bolt when it is fully charged. This is when it is in the cradle. When I first put it in the cradle the bolt is there. After a few hours when it is fully charged the bolt is gone.
That has been my experience with my old unit and now again with my new one.

The official word from Garmin on this subject is “That it’s all in your imagination. The bolts only indicate whether it’s getting power or not.” Obviously there is more to it then that.

I had a situation where my light went out completely and never went on. I thought I had a hardware failure. I did a soft reset and the light became functional again. This was before R3, and with a unit that I eventually RMAed.

I think we all agree that the bolts disappear if we leave the iQue long enough in the cradle.
But it can hardly indicate that the batteries are fully charged, since removing the iQue for 10 seconds, then reinserting it again, will show the bolt for another (long) period of time.

The bolt has gone out. It took 4 hours (although this was it's first full charge).

Previous entries on this forum have concluded that the charging indicator of the iQue is primitive. However, there are circuits avaiable that can provide much more detailed charging info for a 3.6 volt LiIon battery and have the data displayed on the device.
The cost is USD 1.90
