Does anyone know if you can use a usb/serial adapter to connect to the serial connection on a workstation. I need to sync to an nt workstation.

Thank you,

Mike

Hi Mike

I assume you mean plugging a USB to serial into the expansion Pack?

I tried this and ActiveSync on the Toshiba doesn't see the COM port. It may be possible to hack the registry to get it visible but I don't know how.

I bought an ethernet compact flash card and connected to the NT system using that.

Regards

Paul

Did I answer this question in another forum?

The only solution is to buy a USB card for your NT PC, that card will come with the drivers.

I just purchased a E335 and it only has the USB cradle. I have a Laptop with NT 4.0 Workstation which does not support the USB port. Where can I find a card to support USB under NT? Is there a way to connect to the serial port (RS-232).

russo-p,

I did a lot of investigating on how to get my e740 to sync with an nt workstation. There is a third party that provides drivers for usb on NT for select devices. The name of the company is bsquare. Go to www.bsquare.com and find usb for windows nt 4.0.

Unfortunately, the software was not developed to support the e740, so I had to return my Toshiba, but I spoke to a tech and they told me that it would work on the 310. I am not sure if it will work on the e335. You may want to speak to someone before you try this, although they did refund my $40 when it was not succesful for me.

If this doesn't work.... I think you are probably out of luck. I was not able to find another solution for NT. If you find a card that provides NT drivers let me know.... I searched everywhere.
