I've got an iPAQ 1945 and am having trouble copying over a large avi file (210mb). My storage card has space for an additiona 30mb so I know I have enough room.
Can anyone suggest anything? I'm just using Explorer to copy it over at the moment (or trying to).
Cheers...

Activesync is not designed to copy large files. You are much better off to get an usb card reader that plug in to your desktop and copy files to it via desktop file explorer. It wiil be a lot faster.

So there really is no way to get it from my laptop to my ppc without this card reader then?
I'm itching to watch a movie on it but I guessif I have to wait I'll have to wait...

I do it the same way that Dude recomended.
Get a card reader (multi card readers for all types are cheap +/- $ 20).
And it is a lot faster than with active sync.

Well... what problems are you having. For I do agree with Answer Dude and you should get a card reader if you tranfer upwards of 100 megs all the time, but you dont need one if you only do it every once and a while. Is it tahat the process just stops? Becasue it will take about 1.5 hours to finish

the card reader was only $12 but now i can use the information on any computer I come in contact with ... I save all my files in a form that works on both the ipaq and windows desktop.
(eg. RTF files for word documents)
and the plug and play of the card reader means i don't have to load my software on an alien computer.
freedom from activesync is wonderful----!!!!:D
I guess the part that bothered me was needing to load special software to keep my pda and desktop in communication.
My first pda was an HP 100LX (DOS) which had a serial port connection and communication was a simple task.
When i got the bluetooth doggle for my desktop --- that was not plug and play and still represented another software problem
