I tried running IQbooster with NMEA output at 4800 and 9600 baud with various softwares on a PC.
Fugawi OK, position shown on a scanned map
Autoroute 2002 OK position shown
Route 66 Europe professional 2004: position shown but remark is 2D only and speed is constantly shown as 193 kmh (Gilsson is out of the window, 8 sats received)
Mapsource: Can't make it show the GPS.
In VisualGPS, Signal strength bars don't show up in blue to indicate that they are used in solution.
A NMEA log file was saved and mailed to navbear for further analysis.
I wanted to tell IQbooster author of results but I can't find an email address, only a fax number and a snail mail address. So later maybe..
What I'd like to have: Indication of sats used in solution. Possibility of gathering log of dB values for índividual sats over time. This would be good for antenna evaluations.
Bottom line: One could use iQue booster and the iQue to get turn by turn information on the iQue while using a good laptop software such as Route 66 to see a larger section of a town at good scale, including indications of one-way streets.
Another choice would be Tele Atlas in Fugawi, eg for small roads in France and Italy where Navtech is deficient. That is, if no roads in navtech, no turn previews.
Also, iQbooster could be used to send GPS data to a laptop with a desktop marine navigation software and alternate with softwares such as bluechart.
Remains to be done: Hook up serial cable to auto nav cradle alt. get NMEA out on USB.
