PDA Panache has just released their custom stylus for the iQue. They just posted it today (I think that must be why they don’t have a picture of it on their site yet, it's so new). Info about it can be found here (http://www.pdapanache.com/products.asp?PID=GAR1) .

Regular users here know how much I’ve raved about their styli in the past. I’ve found them very much worth the money. Their new iQue stylus has a reset pin, a spring-loaded tip, and a pen all in one. I’ve just ordered mine and I’ll let folks around here know what I think of it when I get it.

Standard disclaimer: No, I don’t work for them, and I'm not a paid endorser. I just use their products and I think others here would like them too! :D

Yea, squeaky wheels win again! I bugged them, too. I'm ordering mine right now. Thanx for the head's up!

The pic on Panache site isn't showing up. Does anyone have a pic of this stylus they can post?

What's the good and the bad with this stylus?

What's the good and the bad with this stylus? No pic, but I got mine yesterday. It's awfully hard to get out of the iQue, and the first time you try to access either the pen or the reset pin it's very hard to unscrew, but I've solved both issues. Don't sit it down tight into the stylus silo, and don't tighten either screw connection. It's a nice stylus, but I found the standard Garmin issue to be nice, too, it had 'heft', much better than the plastic garbage shipped with some of the other Palms.

I do wish it didn't have such a polished barrel, it would have been nicer to have it more closely match the matte finish of the iQue.

All in all, I give it a 7 out of 10.

They don't have a picture on their web site yet, probably since it's so new. I should be receiving mine this week and when I receive it, I promise I'll post a picture of it on this thread.

I decided to order one despite not knowing what it looks like. Sounds like the stylus is a tad bit tight fitting, i can live with that.
I also wanted to get my sweet heart a zire71 stylus at the sametime because the stock one is cheezy and to save on some shipping cost.

What's about it that you ordered with out knowing how it look? And the seller/manufacture does not even post a picture of it!

I don't have any idea what it looks like either, although I'm sure it won't look much different than the others shown on their site.

I bought mine sight unseen because I trust them. I've bought three different styli from them before for three different PDAs I've owned (two Clies and one Palm) and they've all been great. They also offer a 30-day money back guarantee, so there's really nothing to lose.

>>> I do wish it didn't have such a polished barrel, it would have been nicer to have it more closely match the matte finish of the iQue.

I used fine sandpaper on my iQue stylus to roughen the surface. Better grip now.

My stylus arrived today. So, as promised, here's a picture showing what it looks like, along with a mini-review.

I ordered the chrome model, which is the only color available as of this writing (black should be available soon). I've used it for an hour or so and I like it already. One thing I should warn people about is the spring-loaded tip. If you've never used a stylus with a spring-loaded tip before, you may find it quite strange. I'll get used to it in time, I'm sure. It's easy to hold and feels very comfortable, thanks to its weight. I haven't weighed it or anything, but I'd guess it's about one and a half times heavier then the Garmin stylus. It also fits into the iQue's stylus silo very well and the stylus' top fits very snug in the slot at the top of the silo, so there's no chance it will ever fall out.

If I have a complaint (and it's a small one), it's that accessing the pen requires unscrewing the top of the stylus. I would have preferred a pull-off top for the pen. Accessing the reset pin requires unscrewing (the tip) as well, but what the heck, you have to unscrew the Garmin stylus to get to its reset pin as well, so it's something I'm already used to!

Well, that's it. For what it's worth, I like it.

Now I'm confused.
If the reset pin were too short...now that would be a problem.

But too long? Why is that a problem? As one who has used paper clips for so long I just don't see the problem.

Probably he means it to be too thick !

The reset pin is very thick, but it does work in my iQue, tightly. My biggest problem is the stylus is too tight in the stylus slot. If I put it all the way in, I need to use something metal, like a screwdriver, to get it out. I never had that problem with my IIIxe :( It's a nice stylus and all, I just wish it fit better.

I don’t understand:

This stylus cost $20 plus shipping.

It’s very hard to get in and out of the iQue.

You have to unscrew a cap to get to the pen and also the reset pin and it’s hard to unscrew.

The finish doesn’t match the iQue.

The reset pin is too thick to comfortably reset the iQue and may need to be sanded down.

From time to time you may need a screwdriver to get the stylus out of the Ique.

Is it just me or are you all crazy?

Previous experience with the PDA Stylus products wasn't like this, CC. I'm disappointed, however, remember, with the standard stylus, you have to unscrew for the reset pin (now that I've done it once, it's easy to do), and there isn't a pen at all. I seem to be the only one that finds it too thick, anyone else??!? Or should I take it personally? ;)

I’m envisioning someone demonstrating the iQue:

First you load in a route, next the iQue crashes and your forced to say, “Excuse me but my stylus is stuck, does anyone have a screwdriver I can borrow?” :D

I just received mine today and I think I like it. I always have my IQue handy, so it is bonus to have a pen with it. I don't intend to use the pen all the time, just a convenience if I need one.

The stylus is a little tight in the silo, but I don't need a screwdriver to get it out. At least not yet anyway.

No, the finish doesn't match, but over all I like the feel of the stylus.

I wouldn't say mine is tight, and I certainly don't need a screwdriver to get it out, but it is snug. Believe it or not, if you wipe the top (the very top, down only about a half an inch) with furniture polish, it will slide out easier.

And about the color, none of their styli perfectly match the color of the PDA. They're all either chrome or matte black.

Haven't bought one but it sounds like the Engineering team did not do too much measuring ;)

In any engineering production of a new article it is customary to test a prototype with the intended device it is fitted to. If the first article is not to correct size then it usually gets reworked until correct.

Seems like a case of what we call the "Friday afternoon car" i.e. it will do OK, get it out the door !

Stymyx: if it's not tight, why would you need to wipe the stylus with furniture polish to slide it out easier? :)
