Battery life on my Palm M130 is less than 45 min.
Palm suggested doing a soft reset and if that did not work
doing a hard reset (losing all data) resetting to Factory Specs.
After all that work, charging the PDA again and same results
less than 45 minutes battery life. Palm claims the battery
should last a week but does not estimate hours of usage.
Palm suggested I send back the M130 for replacement.

Have you had the same problem with M130?

How long have you had your handheld? I have owned a 130 for about 6 months and have had various fluctuation in battery capacity. Sometimes it drains very quickly (like today). Other times it holds a charge for days. I have read that the Li-ion battery is supposed to build strength with use. Hopefully this will be the case. If mine did this straight out of the box, I would take it back though

My first m130 experienced complete battery failure quite unexpectedly, about a week after I bought it.

It would only work in the cradle. I was able to run a backup to the card using BackupBuddy VFS: Free (http://www.bluenomad.com) .
I got the unit replaced, of course, and registered BackupBuddy VFS that very night!.

The unit I have now seems to be fine.
I run nearly everything from my memory card, but I usually run the backlight on low. Sometimes I even find myself going to turn it down, only to find it was already set low!
I have been playing alot recently since downloading Monopoly, but even after an hour or so I still read in the low 80 percent range.
I do have a cradle at home and at work, and I do travel, so I've ordered the travel charger, but I would swear my current one is doing alot better than the first.
Hmm, I guess I'll have to re-install some kind of battery monitor now to see. You have me curious.
