I got a desktop PC running Windows XP pro connected to the first port of a broadband router, then I got my IPAQ(with CF LAN card) connected to the second port of the router. IPAQ has PPC/OS(not 2002)
IP are assigned by server on both machines.
Now on IPAQ internet access works fine, both machines pings each other.
I would like to see the IPAQ in network resources of XP desktop machine but it is not present... Also on the IPAQ there's no way to browse LAN(even with dedicated software as PocketLAN CE!!) and all client application doesn't work(terminal client, remote control etc...). What's wrong?

I have been able to browse my network since I first brought up wireless networking -- though you can do it with the native file explorer, a product like Resco's File Explorer make the job a lot easier.
I do not think the iPAQ run "server" processes; you will not be able to share directories on the iPAQ with desktop machines.
My theory of the problem of not being able to browse network is the lack of a domain controller. By themselves the iPAQ and desktop clients are peers, but the iPAQ cannot join in a workgroup -- shares set up on the desktop, unless set for Everyone, Full Access, will not be seen by the iPAQ. In a domain environment, once you initially log onto the network look like any other LANMAN client -- this allows you to see all shares defined in the network to which you have at least read access.

Hi - This previous reply states "In a domain environment, once you initially log onto the network look like any other LANMAN client -- this allows you to see all shares defined in the network to which you have at least read access.". How do you get the Pocket PC to prompt you for the username and password to login to my domain? Whenever I use the standard File Explorer to access a network drive I get the message "Network resource cannot be found or you do not have permission to access the network".
What am I missing? Thank you.

Make sure you set up the share to allow Authenticated Users (or Everyone) and that the underlying file system object (directory, etc) allows full access to Authenticated Users.
You are prompted for the username, password and domain the first time you try to access a network resource. What type of network do you have?
To see the resources on the Windows XP desktop you will need to connect to the administrative drive share C$ -- this means you must have administrative privileges on the XP machine (logging on as the same logged-on user on the XP may work).
If you have a registry editor on the iPAQ take a look at the value of Username in the HKCU\Comm\Ident key.
