I have yet another problem with my M505.

I charged it up on the Friday, Then didn't use it on Saturday or Sunday, used it OK on Monday and Tuesday, upon returning to the office I plugged into the cradle and pressed the hotsync button.

Nothing happened. I took it from the cradle and the light went out, the top of the screen with the battery monitor etc was at the bottom of the display. I tried a reset (soft) and the top of the configuration appeared at the bottom of the screen. I tried a hard reset and the cross to set up the stylus was at the bottom of the screen.

Basically it now doesn't work.

Any advice on how to correct this appreciated.

Any advice on what to buy next PDA/Phone combined appreciated.

I suggest you try a warm reset and if that fails a hard reset.
It doesn't sound good. (Warm: Press the scroll up button and then push in the reset pin) THE warm reset will disable any start up problems.
Let me know what happens when you do the warm reset.

I have tried a warm reset. The result is that only the top three lines can be seen at the bottom of the screen.

Interesting fact: the screen responds like the display is correct, so I can select the menus from the screen position if I get the right place. Unfortunately I cannot view anything. I have performed a hotsync OK.

I have also tried a hard reset, also no joy.

Wow! The fact that the portion of the screen that is visible is also responding correctly is very strange!
What OS is on your 505?
If you are still at OS4.0 and given you can HotSync, you might want to upgrade the OS from the Palm.com site to the 4.1. That would reflash the digitize/Screen software and assuming that this is a software issue, it should correct the problem.
I think if this was a hardware problem, i.e. a slipped cable from the digitizer to the motherboard the tapping would be off target.

I have version 4.0 I had tried some time ago to upgrade to 4.1 but it wouldn't let me, telling me that I have the wrong model, I think this is because I have a UK spec machine (multi language).

OOOOps!
Sorry about that multi lingual ROM.
Next?
Let me stew over this for a short while. Perhaps a helpful Samaritan will drop by the well and see you are in need and they can bail us both out.
