Re your online banking, I can get onto all of mine in the same way as I would within IE (although quicker.....obviously:p ). If you have installed Opera and not fiddled with any of the settings, should be ready to go.
Let us know if you have any specific problems, although best to post them in the software forum.

Hello again!
I do have a specific problem: I have installed Opera for epoc and not fiddled with any of the settings, and it should be ready to go ... but it didn't. I can browse any unsecured page but not secured ones! I do not really get a specific error message: just "Some error occured while connecting to the site. Press the back button and try again."
I also have Opera on my PC and has no problems connecting to my bank's website which is: www.skandiabanken.no . I remember I had to set a password in File>Preferences>security. and Opera asked for it when needed before opening the secured page. Why is it that there is not such option ("set password") in my Opera for Epoc? What did I do wrong again? :-p
regards. Michael

Oh, I forgot to mention something .... I can connect to the unsecured webpages of my bank with EpocWeb and of course cannot access the secured ones with it. But with Opera for Epoc, neither the secured nor the unsecured webpages can be accessed!

Have you definitely got Java Runtime installed?
Opera should not have any problems with most secure bank sites unless they use complex ASP or JavaScript / applets. How have you got Opera installed? Is it installed on your C or on compact flash (D drive)? Where is your JAVA installed C or D? If you have Opera set up on D and have not made any changes to it, you could try deleting the C:\system\apps\opera folder which will reset Opera to factory settings (including security). Please note that you will loose all cache, cookies, history & bookmarks for Opera. This is only to be done if Opera is installed on D otherwise you will need to reinstall Opera...DOH !!
Do you have access to any other secure sites, such as webmail or an internet shop account. Try getting into these aswell and see how you get on.
You could also attach your opera.ini file (found in c:\system\apps\opera no matter where Opera is installed) to your next post and I can compare it with won of mine to ensure your security settings are set up correctly. I am sure you are aware that the in application settings don't actually do anything!!

Hi, Had a quick look through those settings and they all appear to be ok. You could try disabling the proxy settings although I doubt this is the cause of the problem. I have all my proxy settings set to '0'.
Can you let me know a little more about the web site.
I have had a look at the website link you provided in a previous mail and noticed that when you click on the log in, the website needs a client certificate before it will let you have access to the login screen. Now I am not 100% on this but I think Opera 5.14 has a problem with certificates so you may not be able to get things working.
When you originally set up your online access with the bank did they update your Internet Explorer, adding a personal certificate Go to your Internet Explorer and check out your Internet Options, Content, Certificates. Is there a certificate relating to your bank? If so then this could be the reason you are not able to log in.
When I hit the login button on your bank I now get a message confirming that 'The page requires a client certificate' May be worth having a word with them aswell. You could also post a new thread on Opera support forum which is linked to below. You will need to register but this is free. Don't expect a very quick answer but you may get one eventually.

I think you intended to post the link to the Opera fourms, Si. Here it is: :)

Yes Si, my bank requires a client certificate before it allows me to access the login page. This certificate is automatically downloaded to the the internet browser the first time you try to log in. I have the certificate installed in both Internet Explorer 6 and Opera for windows. In Opera, I can view the certificate in File>Preferences> security. What I find bizarre is that Opera for Epoc won't even let me view the home page of the bank's website, which is not secured (i suppose!). And if I have no problem connecting to my bank's secured and unsecured webpages with Opera for win, it should also work with Opera for Epoc, or am I wrong? I'll take contact with Skandiabanken and see what they say.
I'll let you know ..

Michael

I think you are right, on this one. I enclose a screen print taken from my machine, when trying to open your banks site. Although I don't speak the language, I can assume it is NOT saying welcome to SkandiaBanken !!
If I were you, I would still post a message on the Opera forum as linked on netbookbabes message above. Post a message asking when certificate support is likely. The more people that show interest in Opera for EPOC by posting these messages, the more likely they are to listen to us and provide us with a newer release with bug fixes and additional features.
Kind Regards
