Edit "type" fields in Expense?

I there a program that can allow me to change the "type" field in the Expense module? I find that most of them do not apply to my needs.

I would also be interested in the ability to Edit the "Type" field or find a program that uses the expense DB but is more flexible.

Any insights from the Guru's out there?
