While in the bush, I had to recharge my Palm m505 with a portable generator. The battery went up to 65% but when I used the Palm afterward, it drained rapidly to 0%.
Back at the office, I put the palm on the cradle and had it charged for a while. When I tried to use it, I got the system sounds, the back light but nothing on the screen. It appears not to be a "GLC" because the light is off when the palm is off the craddle.
I then tried a soft reset, a hard reset, both resets on the craddle and even a multiple reset as suggested somewhere else in this forum but to no avail.
A hint for a solution would be appreciated... greatly.

The method by which you brought on the problem is out of the norm but I think you may very well have either damaged the battery circuit which control the charging or you have expereienced SUDS. Assuming you are not able to SYNC.
I am posting a thread on SUDS for your review.

I would love to know if you solved the problem. I am haveing the exact same problem. I bought a 505 used and he screen is blank ( I bought it as a non-working unit). The touch screen works because I can hear it beep when I touched it. I was also able to get it though the welcome screen by taping the screen many times. This allowed me to sync. I tried upgrading the OS to 4.1, but it didnt help. I have a backlight, but nothing on the screen. I have also taken it apart and disconnected the battery. This also did not help. Any suggestions>
Thanks,
Jim

Jim,
When you had the Palm open did you try to press the cable from the screen to the mother board on a little tighter?
Since it appears that you have all functions with the exception of the screen/display try the cable. If that fails to provide you with an image I suggest you consider Warranty repairs, if applicable, or sending it to one of the independent repair shops.

I was able to dismantle the unit (including most of the screen). I did not see any burns on the MB or the screen MB? I checked all of the connections and no luck. I only paid $50 for this unit. I will probally just keep as a parts unit.
thanks for your feedback
