I would like the map to come up when I drive without using route to......I just want it to show me drving along with no particular destination in mind. How do I do this?

Ann, that's exactly what I do. Even though I know exactly where I'm going it's kind of fun just to watch it unfold on the map. Today, I'm going to do something unique and use the GPS position on the map, rather than the lock-on road, just to see what it really looks like.
Turn on the GPS, let it acquire, and then run the Map program in the Garmin category. I do it all the time.

sometimes when I am bored I put the GPS app on and watch the satellite bars go up and down

When I go to and from work I just flip up the antenna and then press the lower right hand button - the map is then displayed. I then put the ique in the bean bag mount - it charges the ique along the way. When I get home or to work the ique is ready to go!

Sometimes I'll change my routing preference to Off Road, plug in my destination, and use the route line as a general direction to my destination and navigate myself through the back streets. An interesting way to do some sight seeing.

Watching wet paint dry is possibly more stimulating than watching satellite bars!:)

When I'm bored I use a remote control to turn on and off my neighbor's interior lights. They use an old remote control light system that I used to use and still have the remote. :D I like to chase then from one room to another...
