My initial connection between pc and 5 series (2 years old) workes fine - I can view files but when I try to syncro, restore or transfer file I get an error message "try again / cancell". The message come's after 5-10 seconds. When i try to hit "try again" the message returns "try again / cancell" and I don't get anywhere.

In order to make it work I installed PsiWin 2.3, checked for correct dll versions (as referred in help from psion.com), cable connection, baud rate etc.. I also set the the automatic swith on/off to 3 min - not to get locked off, no open files.
My problem came after installing pocketchess and Xpen.

Anyone having a good idea on what to do ?

thank's

a few questions to help us help you:

- did it ever sync/copy files properly?
- did you upgrade to Psiwin 2.3, or is this the first and only version you have installed?

okay.
Did the problems start after upgrading to 2.3, or did you upgrade in order to try to fix the problem?

If the problems came after upgrading, you will need to uninstall Psiwin completely, clean the registry, then reinstall. In fact I advise you to do this anyway. Check out this guide at my site:

http://www.isbg00598.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/faqSerial_USB_IR.htm#upgrade

If the problems came before you upgraded, then I would try a soft reset and see if this fixes the problem. Your manual (or my site!) will tell you how to do the reset.

A soft reset made it all work properly again !.

Thank you very much for your advice - I am looking forward using my 5 ser. full scale again. :)
