I know very little about C++, just starting to learn it. But I have a good idea for my palm 505. I want to try to create a driver or maybe hackmaster app to work with sound. I want to develop it so that I can capture the sound before it goes to the speaker, then redirect it out the serial port on the bottom. from that i'm going to try and hook a 9-pin connect to some speakers/headphone and hopefuly come up with a way to use head phones easily with my palm. Before I get start I had a few questions though..

1) Has this been done?
2) Is it possable to capture the sound before it reaches the speakers and redirect it out the serial?
3) Would anyone like to help me with this?
4) Might it be able to deveolp stero sound apps once this was working?

Please replay back with your ideas. from what i'm thinking this should all be possable with a few system hooks but I don't know my way around the palm enough to be 100% sure.

Well, I don't really know C or ++, but I can give you a few tips. It should be easily possible to capture the sound before it gets to the speakers. Just use a hook like a hack would. You'd have to build a device to handle headphones(obviously) and make it attach to the port. I really doubt it has been done like this before. Definitly NOT for OS 4. Sure, you could develop stereo sound apps, but it might not be able to run with the current processor speed. Maybe though. Your best bet is really just to buy a Tungsten with OS 5. It already has all that stuff(except for the MP3 player), but you could easily download one that would work. Headphone jack included! So go for it! Good luck in any case.

yeah. I just bought my palm less then two weeks ago. should have done some reserch first. ah well. even if i can just improve the sound comeing out of the normal speakers it will be worth it. make it sound better. I'll see what I can come up with and will post it here if I develope anything.
