7Book crashing when opened

My 7Book has developed a disturbing new habit of crashing when opened. The only solution is to perform a full hard reset from CF. It has a new back up battery and I can't see any other obvious problem. Any ideas? Cheers.

Can I ask how you're turning it on? By opening, by using the power switch, or by using the Esc key? If the former, try disabling this ability in the Control Panel, opening the unit, and then powering on. If this works without crashing then I'd be inclined to suspect some sort of mechanical issue (say, a loose battery spring perhaps) which only manifests itself when the unit is physcially manipulated.

One thing I was wondering is have you changed anything recently? Added/removed a program, changed any settings, added any hardware? Just a thought.

How long have you had the 7Book and what is your typical usage patterns (long/short periods of usage, every day or every so often etc)

As much info as possible may switch on a light in someone's mind!

Ta. Changing power settings seems to have worked. Am journalist by profession for what it's worth - news reporter on the Independent.
