I was looking through my netbook system files looking to what uses space and found this file "OprModel.dll" in the C:\system\LIBS directory. I was wondering what it is and how important it is. The date on it is 20-4-02 so I figure it is related to something I have loaded but can't think what and it is 2MB so if it is not essential I would like to remove it.

PS
sorry for cross posting this, it was not deliberate, it did not display which forum I was posting to when I clicked "new thread" while reading a netbook posting and I assumed it would post to that group without realising I needed to sign up for each one seperatly so it seems to have automatically posted it to the general psion group where I registered.

I cannot help you with this, but just for your information, I do not have this OprModel.dll installed on my netBook.

I only have the OprJava.dll in the C:System/Libs that is related to the Opera software. This is a small file in relation to this hugh 2MB .dll

This .dll appears to belong to the Opera software from the OS. How this was generated I have no idea.:(

Interesting to know, why and where this comes from?

Mark,

You don't need to sign up to each message board separately but need to be in the appropriate board when creating the new thread. I will delete your other post in the general section :)

Thanks for the reply DanielV. I will follow Mikes previous advice to experiment with moving it to another location and seeing what happens, and then if all is still well delete it, and if strange things happen hope that moving it back sorts it out. I will keep an eye on it to see if it is generated again and by what.

<<<I will delete your other post in the general section>>> thanks for that Mike I have just noticed that this feature exists on these new boards, much appreciated.

OprModel.dll is part of Opera, as you suspect. On my machine, it is in the ROM because I have a version of the OS with Opera preinstalled. If you are using an OS build with Opera preinstalled, then this file should not be necessary in C:\System\libs (if you have installed Opera 'on top of itself' then I suggest using the uninstall routine rather than just hacking the files off C). If you have the older OS and installed Opera yourself because it was not there in the OS, then you must not delete this file.

Thanks for that diem I will leave well alone then as Opera has been working particularly well since I uped the internal Memory with the extra 32MB module.

I lookforward to having the new OS with opera installed where I am able to copy files from a CF card to to the C:/ which already contains a file with that name (handy when doing a restore operation from a backup) without the corrupt error messages and a few other things which caused me to return to the old OS which has served my needs well in the past, though I find the temptation of a new OS hard to resist even though I lost a few hours of time and felt I aged a bit more messing with their last release and struggling to get it acting as I need.
