I know that some of the Lexar SDs are made by Panasonic. I currently have a 256 in this category.
Are all Lexar SD's made by Panasonic? I have seen Lexar 512 SD's advertised for 166.99 (Buy.com)and 184.00 (Newegg.com)with free shipping but I want to insure a good unit.

I believe that the Lexar +32 are Panasonic's but the other Lexars are not. Some one else maybe able to elaborate or search the threads for Lexar

That's correct - Lexar uses various manufacturers for their different cards (including SanDisk), but the SD 32x cards are Panasonic.

There is a "Manufacturer ID" field buried in the internal registers of SD cards (along with lots of other stuff, such as the manufacture date), and you can see this with my SD_CardInfo+ utility attached. The ID is simply a number, and only 1, 2, and 3 seem to be assigned (to Panasonic, Toshiba, and SanDisk, respectively).
The CardInfo utility that somes with the iQue displays this name as well (rather than the numeric ID code), and if you look through the R3 software release with a hex editor, you can see they only have these three names in it as well.
Can you tell me what manufacturer name iQue's CardInfo displays for the Lexar card, because I don't think that name will display in CardInfo.

The 256 Lexar SD I have is displayed as Panasonic on the iQue. The problem is I would prefer to know the manufacturer BEFORE I buy the card to be sure it is the one I am looking for.

I have two Panasonic cards, a 256 and a 512. They have both been flawless in the Ique. Newegg has the Panasonic 512 for $184. You can't do better for reliability. Highly recommended. Bill
