My gf and I just bought a new Clie PEG T665C. Before I had time to HotSync it with my computer, she somehow had something beamed into it at work. Now no matter what I tried, I just can't hotsync it. This is the msg that I got from the handheld," Unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another application."
I got really pissed of as nothing could be loaded into the thing for now. Anyone has any ideas what happened and how I should do it? Is it because of my laptop (Compaq Presario)'s USB ports or of the Sony?
Thanks alot.
The best thing to do is a warm reset and start from scratch. This sets the Clie back to where it was when you bought it. Then see what happens.
I bought a Clie as well after years of Palm use and am very happy. However, I had the same problem as you have at first. If you go to the Sony support page for Clie and check the FAQ page (or maybe it's Toubleshooting...I forget) they descibe how to solve this. It has to do with being sure to completely delete (after saving a backup, of course) a previous installation of the desktop software. Then reinstall the new software and plug in to the USB port and it should work fine.

My manager's 615C was just having a problem syncing after working fine for months. I was able to get it to sync after soft-booting it per the info received from the following URL

Good luck,

After a while trying to soft and hard reset and reinstall the whole Clie Palm Desktop I was able to hotsync it now. The main problem was, I guess, the process of installing the new driver for the Clie took so long that it was indicated as "not responding". Then I tried to restart the computer right there. It never went through, that's why my computer didn't recognize the Clie at all. The last time I did it, I was having dinner and left the computer there and somehow it ran through the whole process and finally everything worked perfectly. I was just silly... :-)
Anyway, thanks a lot for all the help.
