I am looking to overclock the 203 MHz Samsung CPU on my iPAQ h1930 PDA... AnswerDude 04-03-2004, 09:58 PM At this time, there is no overclock utility that works on ipaq 1930 and 1940. h1930 04-03-2004, 10:03 PM Shezzz... that really sucks. It looks like I am going to sell it and buy an XScale iPaq... AnswerDude 04-03-2004, 10:28 PM One thing to keep in mind is Samsung cpu is a faster cpu than Intel XScale, perhaps they are more conservative in rating their cpu. 203 mhz samsung cpu can benchmark as high or in some case higher than 400 mhz xscale; http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21553 And 266 mhz (ipaq 1940) can benchmark better than 400 mhz in many cases; http://discussion.brighthand.com/showthread.php?threadid=85034 And developers of overclock utilities are promising to support samsung cpu in the near future. h1930 04-03-2004, 10:37 PM This all sounds very cool. I noticed that the Samsung CPUs out-benched the XScale CPUs in a lot of the tests...but I saw benchmark results that showed the Xscale CPUs out-benching the Samsung CPUs in 3D benchmark tests....is this TRUE? h1930 04-03-2004, 10:42 PM I am having a hard time finding benchmark tests showing how fast the (iPAQ H1930) 203 MHz Samsung CPU is versus the XScale CPUs... can anyone provide me a link? I found results of the H1945 (which is 266 MHz), but not the H1930 (which is 203 MHz)... h1930 04-04-2004, 01:49 PM I still can't find a link... h1930 04-04-2004, 04:42 PM I am still looking for more benchmarks for the H1930... and maybe the H1930 vs H1945... anyone know of any? AnswerDude 04-04-2004, 05:57 PM A suggestion, you have the 1930, you can run the benchmark yourself on it using this: http://www.voscorp.com/asp/PPC/VOBenchmark/default.asp And you can compare it to what they did for other models here; http://www.pdabuyersguide.com/ppc.htm Here's another popular benchmark program, that you can find results for other models; http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/benchmark/?en h1930 04-04-2004, 06:11 PM hey thanks Deadmaninc 04-05-2004, 06:27 PM I remeber this being asked a while ago but cant find the answer tho but isnt the Samsung chips based on the Xscale chips? What the real difference between the Intel chips and samsung. Do the Ipaqs come with that ATI or Nvidia portability chip desgined for PDA's and Cellphones? sam_2410 05-25-2004, 05:44 AM Hi people, I've found this link: http://sukin.newmail.ru/setclk.html It seems to me an utility to set the clock speed of the Samsung CPU. I've not yet tested it... I will do it ASAP. I've not right understood if this program can overclock or just UNDERclock my ipaq... Bye. Sam h1930 05-25-2004, 06:07 AM Shez... it looks like it was in Russian. LOL Could anyone translate? sam_2410 05-25-2004, 06:17 AM uhm.. (CPU Samsung S3C2410) * ????/.b > setclk v1.3 o ????? o ??? ?? * setclk v1.2 (??.ZIP) * setclk v1.1 (??.ZIP) * setclk1940 v1 (??.ZIP) ______________________________ he he he....what does mean "??????" "????.b o ?????? o ??? ??" ? Bah. Regards. Sam h1930 05-25-2004, 06:32 AM LOL yea right... well...it looks like the bottom one is version 1, then up = version 1.1, 1.2, & 1.3... I clicked on 1.3 but it looked like some sort of linux compressed archive. So I downloaded version 1.2. I'll post later w/results... bluet0ps 06-15-2004, 07:22 PM i'v tied it but any version didnt seem to work for my 1940. all of them would install and start up but once you fix the setting to a higher clockspeed the system would hangup. h1930 06-16-2004, 03:56 PM Well...I don't know what to make of all this... AnswerDude 07-07-2004, 08:08 AM I just saw this overclock utility for ipq 1930; http://www.excite.co.jp/world/english/web/body/?wb_url=http%3A%2F%2Fholybell.to%2Fhigh%2Fh1937oc. html&submit=%83E%83F%83u%83y%81%5B%83W%96%7C%96%F3&wb_lp=JAEN&wb_dis=2&wb_co=excitejapan bluet0ps 07-11-2004, 11:43 PM ti's not stable on the 1940. I tried playing pocketnes and the program stops working or the graphics becomes blurry. maybe it's only ofr the 1930.
