Is 1gig the most memory available for my PDA that uses SD cards? Seems like PDAs should have a micro drive.

AnswerDude 04-06-2004, 12:23 AM Many pocketpc models can use cf card, so you can use microdrive, in fact people bought the nomad muvo and remove its 4 gig microdrive and use it in the ipaq. Myk_Myk 04-06-2004, 01:37 PM I suppose that maybe it's cost prohibitive, but it seems to me that PPCs should have internal hard drives. Pehaps they will soon... So, I guess the answer is that, for my Hitachi G1000, 1 gig is the max. I wonder if there is an SD card sized micro drive on the horizon? strickjh05 04-06-2004, 08:47 PM RAM and solid state memory (flash) take a lot less power to operate than conventional hard drives. Untill tiny hard dries become cheaper, less power hungry and the battery technology gets better, I do not see an emenant change to hard drives. Myk_Myk 04-07-2004, 01:09 AM That makes sense. Is there a speed issue as well? Are microdrives slower than flash? strickjh05 04-07-2004, 09:45 PM you are correct. They are slower becuase of the spin times. It takes a second to spin the HD to speed so it can be read. PDA Street
