Okay, I just got my 2215 yesterday, and am in the process of setting things up. It appears that the only method of synchronizing contacts and calendars is through MS Outlook. Now, I use Outlook at work all the time, but /not/ for the stuff I kept in my Palm PDA. Outlook has work contacts and their emails and work calendar events; my Palm (and the Palm Desktop) has personal and work contacts with their phone numbers and some addresses, and personal (and some work) calendar events.

I really don't care about /synchronizing/ my contacts and events with Outlook, in fact I don't want to. But what I /do/ want is a quick and easy way to view, edit, type, add contact entries on my PC, send or synchronize that with my iPAQ, and do the same at home.

I tried adding a second profile in Outlook, but it's so clumsy to use, I already miss my Palm Desktop. I also tried exporting my Palm data, but the only file format available cannot seem to be imported into Outlook, even if I wanted to do that. I /can/ export all my Palm contacts to an Excel spreadsheet or Word or Notepad, which might provide a means to import it into another program.

Oh, I have no interest in receiving email or surfing the net on my PDA; I have far better methods of doing that. I just want to use something equivalent to the Contacts, Calendar and probably Tasks portion of Outlook.

Anyhow, is there another program, equivalent to the Palm Desktop, that can manage this? A program I can use just to edit, add, backup, etc. my contacts (especially) and events (secondary)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, great looking product. But $70? I haven't even seen the charge bill yet for my 2215, and don't think I can go another $70 right now.

try pocket mirror for 50$

BTW, if you have outlook express use that for all of your stuff that doesnt belong on your PDA then put all of your good ones on outlook 2003/2002 This will keep them seperate.

You could also try the catagories thing. Since pocket pc can have the same contact in many catagories, you wouldnt always have to look at them all. You could put the bussiness ones in a catagory called bussiness and just never open that catagory.
