I have a Falcom Twist GSM modem (www.falcom.de). The GSM board of this modem is Siemens MC35, serial port.
If I connect the Falcom modem with the serial Psion cable,Comms don't work.
If I conect the Facom modem with "null modem" serial cable + Psion serial cable, and I open Comms, Psion has a soft reset.
What sort of cable must I use?

I think the Psion cable + null modem cable is the correct setup. I think the reset is being caused by something else other than the cabling.

I suggest you open Comms without the cable plugged in, and set the Communication settings to match whatever the modem is set to use. The items that you may need to change are baud rate and the Handshaking settings - especially XON/XOFF.

Having looked at the website of "Falcom" I am quite unable to understand what the device is that you are trying to connect your Psion to.

The devices on the website seem to be modules intended to be embedded in other equipment, though it is not at all clear what that other equipment is - presumably something other than cellphones.

Can you tell us exactly what you are trying to connect the Psion to? Is it actually a serial connected modem that connects via GSM instead of a landline and without the use of a cellphone as well?

....or is it an external modem to go between a computer and a cellphone that doesn't have a built-in modem?

After a bit more searching, I managed to find the Falcom "Twist" modem but now wonder if this could be a "Windows only" device. Do you know if it can be used with non-Windows platforms?

See : http://www.falcom.de/e/e-produkte.html
then click : GSM/GPRS terminals
then : FALCOM TWIST
Falcom Twist is a full modem . It has rs232 serial port, GSM aerial, power slot.

OK, going back to the original question, if your device behaves like a Siemens M35 or C35 phone you should connect with the PsiWin cable and a null modem cable or adapter. Carrier Detect (DCD) should not be checked and the port speed should be set to 19200 - this is very important with the '35' series phones because they will not connect at any other speed, even with a PC. The settings which I use when connecting an S35i phone by cable are:

------------------
Name - Siemens
Speed - 19200
Connect - Serial
Fax Class - Auto
------------------
Init (reset) - AT&F
Data - AT\Q3
Fax - (blank)
------------------
Flow - Hardware (RTS/CTS)
Terminal (DSR/DTR) [ ] not checked
Carrier (DCD) [ ] not checked
Type - Mobile (but change this to "Fixed line" if it times out without dialling)
------------------

I don't know why the Psion should reset when using Comms but make sure the speed is 19200 here as well.

Falcom is even a cellular phone: you must to insert the SIM. Then , Falcom is both modem and cellphone.

If I connect the Psion with Falcom when the dial is still open from remote modem, then I open Comms,Comms works! But now, if I close the dial from remote modem, Psion has the soft reset.

Do you mean that you are trying to connect the Psion to the "Falcom" while an internet connection is already running?

The Psion should tell the Falcom to dial up to the ISP - it should be used only as a modem, not as a phone.

No,it's not an internet dial.
I tested my Falcom Twist modem and my Psion in this way:
1. I set my Falcom modem through Hyperterminal on Pc.
These were the commands:
AT&F0 [reset]
AT&D0 [DTR off]
ATS0=1 [automatic answer]
AT&W

2. Now I set another modem similarly(that's the remote modem, i.e. I used an Us Robotics 56k on office phone line)

3. Now, I separate the Falcom modem from PC and I connect it with Psion. Falcom and Psion are turned on, "Comms" is closed.

4. Then, I call the Falcom modem from the remote modem [i.e. Us Robotics]. The Falcom answers.

5. I open "Comms" on Psion. I "open" the serial port.

6. Now, I can tell with Falcom modem [i.e. AT commands], I can also receive/send data and files!!

7. But if I close the dial from remote modem, Psion has a soft reset (it sounds, Comms closes, Psion opens the Welcom Psion file).

Speed was : 9600

I tested Psion and Falcom modem with your setting, but Comms doesn't work.
