Obtain the latest SP (from RIM for the 950/957) or from VoiceStream (for the 5810). Run the executable. Then start the Desktop Manager. You may have to start the Application Loader.

Which Blackberry do you have and who did you purchase it from?
If it is NOT the 5810, the RIM web site has updates at http://www.blackberry.net/support/downloads/desktop.shtml
For the 5810 (VoiceStream) get the update at http://www.t-mobile.com/products/handhelds/blackberry_5810/downloads.asp
