Hello forum users, how are you?

Currently I just purchased an IPAQ 3830 and a wireless aircard with the PC Expansion Pack.

I get home, install the active sync. software (v. 3.5) and I connect the DC adapter to the cradle. When prompted by Active Sync. to plug in the cradle, I do so via the USB port.

Once plugged in, it goes through it's detection process and gives me a failed to detect device.

At this point, it states it can not set it up. Arghhh I'm going on a business trip tomorrow and I require the use of my IPAQ and wireless modem.

I am running on Windows XP and I've tested the USB ports and even uninstalled my scanner and used it's USB port (I was 100% sure that this port worked).

This still gave me the can not detect device msg. This is frustrating and when I spoke with the firm who sold me the device, they were blunt saying they no nothing about it's features and functionality and they just read from the website it's details (when customers ask).

I phone compaq/hp and they give me the run around telling me to connect to specific troubleshooting sites and none of them work.

A member on www.howardforums.com gave me this site and told me to post.

Please oh please, I am in a dilema, so if anyone knows how to solve this issue, please post back to the forum of PM me.

Thanks,

P.S. I don't think it is a cradle problem for it's brand new.

Any feedback it's greatly appreciated!!

Take Care,

Shane Escher

Thanks to all who looked at my msg. I now am up and running.

The issue was with my ActiveSync software. It was not linking properly with my PDA. I in turn plugged in my device and in did sync. I phoned HP on this and granted it states not to plug in your device, if you are running XP, when it does the testing for the COM port, if your device is not plugged in, it will not work. They said during the testing, I must click cancel and then plug in my device.

They stated once plugged in, it will in turn be detected by AutoSync.

Thanks,

Shane
