I'm looking for a better manual for the iQue 3600 (Que applications). I find the one provided in the box not great.

Any ideas where to get one online/offline?

Thx

I agree the manual isn't very good. Experimentation is the fastest way to find things out. Just try all of the menu items and toolbar icons. You'll be a pro in a couple of days.

You could read all the posts on this forum. It wouldn’t be as efficient but you would learn a lot and have more fun. Also the FAQ.

I've spent most of the last month trying to answer a similar question, How do you work this thing!!! I was new to GPS & PDA, so its been a fun month.

It took a while for me to figure out that the book in the box is only half of the documentation that is provided with the iQue (the more advanced half at that). This printed manual contains instructions for the iQue (or GPS enabled) functions.

On the iQue CD, in the \Manuals directory, you will find an "OperatingInstructions.pdf" file that turns out to be a similar manual, but for the non-GPS functions (or Palm) functions of the iQue.

Between the 2 manuals, you get a better idea of what is what.

You also need to find more manuals to learn how to run the PC interfaces that give you the ability to generate/load base/detail map/data files to/from the iQue:
*Palm Desktop (Haven't found much use for this yet as I sync to Outlook, but installing this also gives you the next 2 programs),
*HotSync Manager (load maps/programs/data to iQue),
*MapInstall (limited method of building detailed maps into one file for iQue to use),
*MapSource (more powerful method of building detailed maps into one file for iQue to use - Free download from Garmin.com),
*Load Basemaps (run Setup.exe in \Basemaps on the CD)
*Probably more that I have omitted.

Then you will have a partial idea of what is available to you and how some of it works.

You may also want to begin learning the directory structure and what files go where on the SD card, so you can move to an SD card reader/writer, which is a much faster way to get data to/from the iQue (200MB of detail maps in HotSync took me almost 20 min to download, same file to the SD card with a USB 2.0 reader/writer took 52 seconds).

There is a bunch of shareware tools discussed in these forums that have been extremely helpful with this learning, ZLauncher, FileZ, BackupBuddyVFS, Palm Insider Pro, Uninstall Manager, VFSMark as well as a couple generally useful ones, Bright-iQ & Screenshot5. Snag some of these and you will have even more manuals to read!

As already stated, you are still going to need quite a bit of time playing with the options and reading the very helpful forums posted here. Back up a LOT while playing, unless you play before loading any data that you would miss.

Have fun! The iQue is a great toy that seems limitless in it's capabilities (it is still surprising me with what it can do), but all that power does come with a significant learning curve.
