Need help please: My CASIO E-125 is still working but there's no backlight. I can see it's working in the background but without backlight it's so frustrating.
Can anyone show me how to fix it or where I can have it fixed? THis PDA is out of warranty though.
Thanks

Pretty common problem, and is normally one of three possibilities:
1. Ribbon cable that connects the backlight daughterboard to the motherboard connector has gone bad, or contacts oxidized.
2. Daughterboard itself has gone bad...
3. Power problem or cpu problem not activating upon powerup. Not as likely.
The cure: carefully disassemble your 125, clean the ribbon contacts on both ends of the tiny ribbon cable, be careful, it is very fragile.
If that doesn't work, find someone who has a E125 and swap out ribbon cables and see that works, that will at least tell you if the cable is bad or not.
If that doesn't work, swap out daughterboards.
If that doesn't work, sell it for parts on EBay and buy a new one, because anything else will probably be too expensive.

Rich you missed out one point.
The fluorescent tube itself may have blown. I have seen a couple with this problem.

That too could be a potential cause of his difficulty. Thank goodness that wasn't the problem for me...I would have gone bonkers trying to decipher the cause.
I've owned an E-100, E-105, and an E-115...and always thought that they had the brightest and best screens of any handheld out there. When I bought my Maestro, I was sorely disappointed in the screen clarity compared to my Casio. I am always willing to subsitute battery life for clarity...especially when I have a battery that is easily swapped out.
Nonetheless, the compatibility with new software demanded that I give up the Casios and move on to greener pastures. However, at least I could do my own work on the Casios, and did so several times.
