I've recently 'acquired' the chess game for my Psion 3c but there wasn't an instruction book.

The 'help' doesn't help much as it is written for a 3a.

Does anyone know where I might be able to get the instructions?

A link on the www to an adobe file would be excellent :)

Thanks

Flo

The 'help' doesn't help much as it is written for a 3a. I would have thought any 3c instructions would have been identical to those for the 3a. Why do you think the application is different when used with a 3c?

Errrr cos they don't work! ;) When I get a minute I'll have a closer look and give you some examples :)

OK, but that is very strange because normally the only 3a applications which are not the same on a 3c (or 3mx) are those which have to access the serial port.

An example is the "3Fax" application which had to be rewritten as "PsiFax" for the 3c's different serial port.

Sorry to have taken so long coming back on this. The truth is that its my Dad's question and getting an answer out of him can be difficult! ;)

It now seems that the Help on Chess is fine, as far as it goes, which is not very far at all. It tells you how to move the pieces and that is virtually it.

So, we haven't managed to work out what to do with 'Master' games and a few other features that look good but we can't quite work out what to do!!

So, really I go back to my first question ... Anyone know where I can get the instructions for Chess for the Psion?? :)

Thanks

Just to be absolutely clear - you are talking about the chess game that came supplied on SSD, rather than a shareware/downloaded one?

I remember buying the SSD version for a friend of mine some years ago. If that's the one you are talking about, I will contact said friend to see if he might still have it lurking around somewhere, though I know his S3a is sadly now defunct. Assuming that it's not a massive instruction leaflet, then I would be happy to scan it for you.

Bear with me, this could take a while!

Yes, Julie, its on the SSD. I bought it on ebay, to be honest, and the seller said it didn't have instructions at all!!!

If you can get it from your friend, I'll be very grateful.

Thanks

Hi Florence

Just to say that my chess-owning friend is now in "search" mode! ;)

Keep fingers crossed!

Hi Florence

Unfortunately it seems that the search was fruitless - my friend found the chess SSD, but no instructions. He says he can't actually remember there ever having been a leaflet or anything in the box.

Seems a little strange, I know. Sorry we couldn't help. :(

Ah well not to worry. It was worth a try. Thank you for trying and to your friend for his search :) (If your friend finds any other unused SSD lying around I know a good home! ;) )

Thanks again.

Hi Florence,
I know I'm joining this discussion VERY late but if the program you have is by Purple Software I have a copy of the manual. Let me know if you would still like it.
Regards,
Harry

I just popped back onto this thread to see if there had been any developments and I see that my last post never appeared!! So, very sorry, Harky, to have appeared to have ignored you, but I did reply ... honest!!!! :)

My reply said something like "My dad has got the game away on holiday with him at the moment, but I will ask him when he returns and come back to you"

So, many thanks for your offer, and I'll let you know :)
